Understanding God

Religious people tell me that God is responsible for everything that happens. If God exists, why would anyone love or want anything to do with a God that causes earthquakes, genocide, and famines or takes people we love or allows wars or events like 9/11?

God created nature, but nature is not God.Nature is the mechanical, material part of God’s creation. Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and many other events are part of natural forces still setting in. Accidents, on the other hand involve the power of choice of people; sometimes people make poor choices that could affect, transform or destroy other’s lives.

    • For so many years of my life I had felt a void within me regardless of a successful career, a romantic relationship or material objects like a lavish house, car, jewelry etc.
Sure I had felt moments of excitement, passion and joy but then that restlessness and feeling of aloneness would creep back up inside. Even going to church, reading self help books and giving back to the community didn’t seem to fill the void or cure the loneliness that I felt.
Luckily I didn’t turn to drugs and alcohol to fill the void but instead I turned to romantic relationships, hoping that one special person would complete me and make me perfectly happy. Well as you can guess my relationships failed and the feelings of loneliness were still there.
Along my journey I came across Spiritual Engineering an incredible technology that has helped me tremendously. A very simple but amazing diagram and example of a house was explained to me that opened up my heart and mind to a new way of thinking.
Realizing that for a home to be a steady, reliable shelter that it was crucial for a sturdy and strong foundation to be laid before the walls and roof were built. Without a strong foundation, in time the walls and roof would definitely collapse. Just as in relationships we must build a strong relationship with God (foundation) and with ourselves (the walls) and then with others (the roof). So many of us forget about the foundation and the walls and put all of our energy into the roof (others). That is why most relationships crumble and why loneliness prevails.
Nothing can fill that void except for God, the divine spark within, that to love God is to love ourselves because we are part of and one with God. Now I realize that romantic relationships, careers and material objects are meant to be enjoyed but that the most important relationship is with God, the source within.
Are you ready to build a strong relationship with your divine source within?

Un-realistic expectations cause problems in all relationships and our relationship with God in no exception. From the time I was small, I heard that God answered prayers, that if we had enough faith, we could ask Him for anything.
Well, I had to burst your bubble but it does not work that way.
I have to understand what God does do and what He leaves for me to do; that God will not intervene and abrogate the laws of nature based on my immature request.; that He has given me free-will choice and will not negate consequences of my decisions and actions no matter how hard I pray or how much faith I possess. Nor will He limit other people’s freedom of choice to prevent bad things from happening to me or anyone.
I must strive to find an understanding of God and our relationship that actually produces results in my life. This means that I should try to understand, at least to my limited ability, God’s will for me and others; that I should try to discern God’s true role as loving Father—and mine as His child; that I should seek to comprehend the interaction of physical laws and spiritual reality in a manner that helps me avoid conflict and find acceptance; that I need base my expectations on healthy expectations and not on fantasy or my self-driven desires.
God absolutely delivers what He promises when I do my part. Disappointment often results from expecting Him to do something is not in line with His job description.
